Low-voltage and structured cabling
Wireless covers convenience. Everything that has to be reliable — access points, cameras, displays, point-of-sale, desks that carry real work — still wants a cable, and the cable is cheapest to install before the walls close.
Cabling as infrastructure
Structured cabling means every outlet runs back to one place on its own cable, terminated on a patch panel, so any point can be anything later. It is the opposite of a chain of devices daisy-chained across a building, which is what most properties accumulate over time. The value is in what it lets you do afterwards: move a desk, add an access point, swap a camera, change what a room is for, all without pulling new cable. We plan the termination point first — a location with power, ventilation and room to grow — because everything else depends on it.
What we run
Network cabling for data and for access points, including the runs that carry power over Ethernet to cameras, phones and door hardware. Coax where it is still needed. Speaker and AV cabling, display feeds and control wiring. Camera and intercom runs. Conduit and pathways so future cable can be pulled without opening finishes again, which is the single most valuable thing to install during a remodel and the most commonly skipped. We label both ends of everything and give you a record of what goes where.
Doing it during construction
The cheapest time to run low-voltage is when the walls are already open, and the difference is not marginal. During a remodel, a TI build-out or new construction we run the cabling alongside the electrical, keeping the separation from power circuits that avoids interference. In a finished building it is still very doable, particularly with attic or crawlspace access, and we open the smallest areas we can. Either way we will tell you honestly which runs are straightforward and which are going to be awkward before you commit.
Common questions
Is cabling worth it when Wi-Fi keeps improving?
The access points themselves need wired connections to perform, so better Wi-Fi usually means more cable, not less. Good coverage comes from several well-placed wired access points rather than one strong router. Anything fixed and important — cameras, displays, desks — is also more reliable wired.
Can you run cabling in a finished house?
Usually yes. Attic or crawlspace access makes it straightforward. Two-storey runs between finished floors are harder and sometimes need a small opening we patch afterwards. We will walk the routes and tell you which runs are easy and which are awkward before you commit to the scope.
Do you configure the network as well?
We install and terminate the physical infrastructure and test the runs. Configuring servers, firewalls and network equipment is normally your IT provider's work, and we coordinate with them so the cabling arrives where they need it, labelled and documented.
