Electrical work in Los Feliz
Our completed Los Feliz multifamily work includes eight meters and nine subpanels. For another property, the existing wiring, equipment and proposed use need their own assessment. If a project affects a property in a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, confirm the required city review for exterior changes before finalizing fixtures, visible conduit or meter locations. Will preservation rules stop me upgrading the electrical?
Preservation rules can affect an electrical project’s design and review. In a Los Angeles Historic Preservation Overlay Zone, exterior changes may need review in addition to any building permit. Confirm the property’s designation and proposed work with the assigned city planner early. We can plan equipment locations and visible routes around the requirements identified for the project.

Is knob-and-tube dangerous?
Knob-and-tube wiring should be assessed for condition, alterations, loading and grounding limitations. We cannot determine safety from the wiring type or the age of a house alone. If it is present or suspected, arrange an electrical assessment before altering the system or adding loads. Ask your insurer directly about its requirements; coverage decisions vary by policy and property.
