Cooling load dominates everything here. Summer temperatures well above anything in the Valley mean air conditioning is not a comfort circuit but the largest continuous load in the house, and panels sized without that in mind run out of room quickly. Lot sizes are generous, so outbuildings, wells, gates and detached shops are common and the runs to them are long. Solar is also more established here than in any other part of our service area — Lancaster was the first city in the United States to require solar on new homes — which means we are frequently working alongside an existing array, adding a battery, or sorting out a main panel that the original solar installer left at its limit.
Permits and utilities here
Lancaster and Palmdale each run their own building departments; Quartz Hill, Acton, Agua Dulce and the unincorporated high desert permit through Los Angeles County. Southern California Edison serves the whole valley. It is a long drive from Woodland Hills, so we schedule Antelope Valley work in blocks rather than single short visits — worth knowing when you are planning timing.

Do you actually come out to Lancaster and Palmdale?
Yes, though we are straight with you about the logistics: it is roughly an hour and a half each way from our Woodland Hills base, so we group Antelope Valley work rather than making single short trips. For a larger project — a panel upgrade, a battery installation, an outbuilding — that works well. For a single outlet repair, a local electrician will get to you faster and we will say so.
I already have solar. Can you add a battery?
Usually yes. The questions are what your existing inverter is, whether the main panel has room for the interconnection, and which circuits you want backed up. A lot of arrays out here were installed with the panel already close to its limit, so the honest answer sometimes involves panel work before the battery. We will tell you that up front rather than after.
